Can I start treatment without a physician referral?

YES! Physiotherapists are primary health professionals in Alberta and therefore you are not required to supply a physician prescription or referral to start treatment*.

Does Alberta Health Services cover physiotherapy?

As of February 2022, the Alberta government made cuts to the Alberta Health Services physiotherapy program. To receive coverage a patient must have undergone bone and/or joint surgery, qualify as low income (with proof) or have specific physical or neurological disabilities. A prescription from a physician does not qualify a patient for funding.

At this time, Focus Physiotherapy does not have an Alberta Health Services contract.

However, we are pleased to treat the above conditions. Please don’t hesitate to contact us for further information about your coverage and additional details at 780-388-0378.

What is the cancellation policy?

Please provide 24 hours’ notice if you are unable to attend your scheduled appointment. At Focus Physiotherapy we take great care to provide one-on-one treatment for our patients. If notice is not provided another patient may miss out on that treatment spot. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

Above are some of the most frequently asked questions we receive. If there is something you are curious about that is not discussed please do not hesitate to reach out via phone, email, or through our contact form.
